Eco-friendly Thermal Test Systems Avoid Gas Leak Law Requirements

The environmentally friendly ECO series ThermoStream® temperature forcing systems, introduced last year, using less energy with very low audible noise will save users from additional maintenance costs under the EU F-Gas regulation for refrigeration systems. Beginning January 1, 2017, the EU 517/2014 regulation requires annual leak checking for all refrigeration systems that exceed a gas charge limit.

The Temptronic® ECO Series features precise temperatures with fast transitions from -80 to 225°C with a gas charge below a CO2 equivalent (CO2eq) threshold for greenhouse gas emissions that requires leak-test maintenance. This is good news for any environmentally conscious company, in addition to the 28 EU countries.

There is a time and cost implication for customers that must adhere to the regulation and who purchase a refrigeration system over the gas limit. They will need the have annual leak checks by a trained and certified person, the machine is taken out of service while being tested, and records must be kept a minimum of 5 years. Beginning Jan 1, 2017, all systems must carry a label listing the gas names, weight, and CO2eq or Global Warming Potential (GWP).

ThermoStream is a standard throughout the world for effective testing and conditioning of electronic components and materials. These portable systems achieve ultra-low temperatures without the use of Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) or Liquid Carbon Dioxide (LCO2), making them ideal for any temperature test environment. Additionally, the systems provide remote communications and set up, touch screen operation, and a wide-reaching thermal head for easy positioning over the test device.
